A light-colored concrete cast of the Rondanini Medusa - reproduction of a masterpiece of classical Greek art attributed to Phidias, depicting Medusa not as a monster, but as a serene beauty, gaze lowered, serpents knotted beneath her chin.

Sizes:

  • Size S: ~100 g · 8 × 3 × 6.5 cm
  • Size M: ~420 g · 13 × 5 × 10.5 cm

Hand-poured; not printed. No plastic 3D printing, no automated production. Every cast is made by hand in my workshop - under the rooftops of Paris - in light-colored concrete. The concrete casting faithfully renders the modelling of the face, the serpents, the wings, and the drapery with precision - with that cold, dense, mineral feel, close to ancient marble.

An object of character: This cast fits naturally in a contemporary interior as much as in a classical or scholarly décor. It settles effortlessly on a shelf, a console, or a desk. And because each piece is hand-poured, slight variations in tone and texture may appear - that's what makes your Medusa unique.

The perfect gift for lovers of Antiquity: Give a fragment of classical Greece to someone who admires it. Mythology enthusiasts, collectors of characterful objects, ancient art lovers - this cast is made for them.

Order & Shipping: Casts are available in stock, ready to ship within 2 business days. Each piece is packaged in a cardboard box padded with wood wool, then shipped via tracked Colissimo.

The Rondanini Medusa, a masterpiece of Greek classicism: Attributed to Phidias and dated to the 5th century BC, the Rondanini Medusa is considered the first example of the Gorgon rendered in the "beautiful type" - a serene female face, gaze lowered, far from the bestial grimace of the archaic period. The original in bronze adorned the shield of the statue of Athena Parthenos inside the Parthenon. The Roman marble copy, long held by the noble Rondanini family in Rome, is today displayed at the Glyptothek in Munich. It is this representation - serene, powerful, unmistakable - that this cast seeks to capture.
